Instagram Now Letting Users Share Feed Posts To Stories

Instagram, the photo-sharing app, owned by Facebook Inc. is introducing a new and easy way to share feed posts on your story, according to a blog post. 

So many times, we come across stuff, image, quotes that inspire us and all we want to do is post them — like a shoe image from an online shopping site, or a new watch you just bought and all you now want to do is just share that post as a sticker to your story for your friends and followers to see.

The new feature which allows you share your feed post to your story with ease. It also will let people post information from apps directly to their Instagram Stories, which last for 24 hours. For example, while listening to a song on Spotify, someone would be able to tell their Instagram friends what title or album it is. As the album cover can be share on your story instead of using screenshot to post on your story, you can simply just click on share. 

How it works

To use the feature, Instagram users can share a feed post to their story by simply clicking on an airplane icon below the post, arranged in order of their functions just as same gesture as send direct message.

At the top, you’ll now see an option to create a story. Click on it to see the feed post, once you click on it you will see the feed post as a sticker with a customised background ready to share to your story. You can edit, add filter, rotate, scale and move the sticker — and click more to explore other styles.

The interesting part about this feature is that all post from shared to stories will display the original poster’s username. For example when you post to your story, doubleclick and your username will appear at the corner bottom of the story and when a friend is viewing your story, he /she will see your name as the original poster of the post on your story.

Instagram users can only share posts from public accounts. In a case where the users don’t want their posts shared to stories by other people, they can easily opt out the option in settings.

Instagram, since it launch hasn"t let its users share much from other site, app or any other place apart from within the app, reason for it been as explained by the company founder who wanted to make sure that everything posted within the app was a reflection of what a user created, not what they curated from others or other site.

It"s a bit surprising now,  because with this new feature Instagram story is breaking its own rules and intentionally allowing the sharing of other things from the outside world to its own app and more like a free access for users to direct -share their playlist,  album , shopping images,  etc. from other site or app.

This feature is said to roll out globally in coming months.
