Dr. Aleksandr Kogan, the psychology academic who created the app which was used to amass the data of 50 million users, says Facebook and Cambridge Analytica is merely using him as a "scapegoat". Dr. Kogan allegedly worked for the British firm in 2014 but had denied having an idea that Cambridge Analytica had an ulterior motive behind the gathered data. His aim of creating the app was to model human behaviour via social media, and he was assured by the London-based firm that every process was legal. He said: "The events of the past week have been a total shell shock, and my view is that I"m basically used as a scapegoat by both Facebook and Cambridge Analytica when … we thought we were doing something really normal.
