YouTube Expands Non-Skippable Ads To More Creators

Google-owned YouTube is expanding the concept of non-skippable advertisements on its platform for the creators to monetise their content and earn more revenue—This basically means you will not be seeing the "skip ad" button more often. YouTube explained that creators who already monetise their content on YouTube will be soon able to turn on non-skippable ads for all of their videos. YouTube’s Website Now Supports Vertical Videos Without Black Bars

An interesting update is rolling out to all YouTube player on the desktop. Like mobile devices, the YouTube desktop player now supports the exact ratios of the videos you are watching. Previously, YouTube used to show black bars around videos that aren’t in the standard 16:9 aspect ratio. This included vertical videos, 4:3 videos, and videos with other respect ratios. In an effort to help mobile users find new content to watch: YouTube is about to launch the test of a new “Explore” tab for its iOS app, which YouTube says will show videos, topics and channels users probably wouldn’t ordinarily see. Google-owned popular video streaming platform YouTube on Monday announced that it will start testing a new Explore tab on iPhone that will allow users on the platform to discover related content from channels that they have not yet subscribed to. Explore is different from the Recommendations tab in a way that it is expected to broaden topics instead of showing just videos similar to the ones in browsing history and in the subscription list. At its annual VidCon gathering in Anaheim, California, the site announced an alternative payment method for channel memberships and a merchandising feature. Channel Memberships is a rebrand of Subscriptions, a feature that had been tested by select creators for a while. Channels with over 100,000 subscribers will get access to Memberships for $4.99 per month. Creators will have a unique badges for their profiles, custom emoji, members-only posts, exclusive livestreams and videos, and other perks. Social media platform, Instagram, is considering removing its video duration restrictions by allowing the users to post hour-long videos. As it stands now, Facebook-owned Instagram could soon be modifying the existing time constraints on videos uploaded on its platform, allowing users to upload longer videos other than the usual time.  According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal , a future update could enable users to upload content as long as one hour. According to people familiar with the matter, the feature, which could allow videos of up to an hour in length, will focus on vertical video, or video that is taller than it is wide, one of the people said. The social media giant will now let users save photos and videos to the Facebook cloud, archive Facebook Stories and share voice messages with friends. The first feature is called Voice Posts. The feature will let Facebook users quickly share voice messages between one another. This is just as similar to that of WhatsApp, which means it will allow users make calls within their Facebook messenger instead of using normal calls to keep in touch and it sounds like these will be designed to be quick and easy to share. More than half a billion videos on YouTube will, from today, carry credits covering songwriter, label and publisher data – and it just keeps getting better.  The Google platform has just announced that it is adding ‘credits and music discovery information’ to both premium music videos and – for the first time ever – to fan-uploaded content that features recorded music. Users will be able to access the credits when they click the ‘Show More’ button under each video. YouTube"s high-dynamic range (HDR) video has already been available on select Android phones for a while now, including the Galaxy S8, Pixel, LG V30 and Xperia XZ Premium.
