Google Assistant Can Now Buy Movie Tickets For You

You can now buy tickets to the movies using voice commands through Google Assistant. You can try it out right now to buy tickets to Solo: A Star Wars Story, which went on sale on Saturday or Avengers (infinity war). Why stress it when you can now buy advance tickets for upcoming movies with the feature. When you use the prompts with Assistant on your phone, it pulls up a selection of theatres with available times.

Google has partnered with Fandango to offer movie ticket purchases from Google Assistant. The deal went live on May 4th, in honour of the Star Wars marketing holiday and the fact that advanced tickets for Solo: A Star Wars Story now on sale.

How it works

To buy tickets, just type “buy tickets” or you can say, “Hey Google, get me tickets for...” with the name of the movie you want to see. If you’re not sure what you want to see, just say, “showtimes near me” and voila, Google would bring up a selection of movies playing at theatres located near you. You can find out more about a film by asking “who stars in it?” or “show me the trailer.”

Google Assistant can also retrieve the trailer if you want to watch it, assuming you like what you see, and have already narrowed down to a single movie, otherwise you’ll also need to let Assistant know what movie(s) you’re interested in. From there, you’ll tell Assistant which showtime to purchase the tickets for. If there’s reserved seating at the theater, the AI will prompt you to tap the Fandango card to open the related mobile app and choose your seats most of the utility this feature had on Siri.
