You’ll soon be able to try on sunglasses and buy them without ever leaving your Facebook app. The social media company announced that it"s beginning a rollout of mobile ads utilising augmented reality in the News Feed. Soon, your feed will be filled with interactive experiences with the intent to sell you products. The company explained in a blog post that, the new AR ad feature that will place virtually engaging advertisements in the News Feed. In its announcement to advertisers, Facebook claims that, “by incorporating calls-to-action within the camera experience, people can seamlessly go from engaging with your product—such as trying on a lipstick shade or exploring a new game—to making a purchase or installing an app.” Facebook’s marketing team seems to be attempting to make advertisers’ products as tangible as possible. Facebook makes a move to make the UK 2019 elections fake news free Following the controversies that trailed Facebook for weeks after the revelation about the data leak of over 87 million users used to aid president Trump in the last US election, the social network"s chief technology officer will make a promise to ensure that the platform will not be used to compromise the election result in the UK. Fake news thrived in the US, and even though Russia was blamed, the social media firm was reprimanded for not being quick enough to dissolve the divisive ads, remove the fake news created by the Russian propagandists and for allowing its platform to be abused by Russian propagandists. Facebook Says It Will Not Opt Out Of Target Marketing

Facebook Inc., despite the European Union"s privacy regulations, insists that it would not discontinue using targeted adverts as a condition for using its service. Moreover, it also needs to keep its business intact. Facebook alongside other internet-based companies like Alphabet"s Google thrive on advert placements as their primary source of revenue. If this factor is permanently cut off, it will lose relevance because it"s a free service and not very many people will be willing to offer a subscription fee to access the service. The EU law is expected to take effect in May. The EU proposed law declares stringent rules to keep internet-based companies in check and promises to hugely fine any company that flouts the law. Jalon Lanier, Tech Evangelist Says Users Should Pay For Google And Facebook Services

In the wake of the privacy scandal with Facebook Inc. that also implicates Alphabet"s, Jalon Lanier, an influential tech evangelist during the TED 2018 conference in Vancouver suggested that Facebook and Google should review their business model with inclusion of ad-free options. Often referred to as the father of virtual reality, Lanier told the Vancouver event that users who do not want their private information toyed with should have the liberty to pay for the services via a monthly subscription fee or whatever option that best suits the internet companies. This model should be considered as an alternative to overly relying on ad placements.
