Chrome And Firefox Will Support A New Standard For Password-free Logins

Password, it’s crystal clear to most people that this authentication process is weak and frankly a meaningless form but yet most of us still use password despite the fact that it sometimes causes distress to them,  is easily stolen,  forgotten and mostly unsafe and ineffective. The good news is that two standards bodies, FIDO and W3C announced a better way, a new password free protocol for the web called WebAuthn. WebAuthn has been working its way toward W3C approval for nearly two years, but yesterday marks the first major announcement of browser support. Apple has not commented on Safari support for WebAuthn, although the company is part of the working group that developed the standard.
