PayPal Will Work Inside Gmail, YouTube And More Through Google Pay

Now you"ll be able to use PayPal, with your Google Pay account, to pay for items in Gmail, YouTube.

Google and PayPal are extending their partnership to allow you to use your PayPal account to pay for things across the Google, including Gmail, YouTube, and the Google Store. Better yet, if you link your PayPal account to Google Pay, you won’t have to keep signing in to PayPal every time you want to make a transaction.

However, this isn"t the first time for both companies to work together. Since 2014, Google Play users have been able to purchase apps and games thru their PayPal accounts. But this new relationship goes deeper than that plain integration — it means Google users likely won"t have to leave Google"s apps and services just to be able to pay for stuff using their PayPal accounts. It makes payments easier, more frictionless, and intuitive. As TechCrunch notes.

"PayPal and Google Pay share common goals of creating simple payment solutions across our platforms that enable people to shop more seamlessly," PayPal said in a statement.

Also added "We look forward to continued collaboration that helps increase conversion for merchants and gives users the flexibility, security and speed that digital payments can offer."
"We are always looking for ways to improve the experience and to make payments even more seamless and secure for our customers wherever they want to pay," added by PayPal COO and executive VP Bill Ready.

How it works

To get started, sign in into your Google pay app and tap on the “Cards” tab at the bottom of the page. From there, tap the + button at the bottom-left corner, and then select “Add other payment methods,” where you’ll see PayPal as a new option. Tap on it, and follow the on-screen instructions to link your PayPal account.

In order to proceed,  you’ll be asked to create a four-digit PIN number, which you’ll use to verify your purchases. PayPal will also ask you to set up a backup form of payment in case you need to “top up” your PayPal balance when you don’t have enough in your account to complete a transaction.

Once you’ve added your PayPal account to Google Pay, you’ll see it as a payment option whenever you use Google’s service to buy something. You can also set PayPal as your default payment with the service, so all of your Google Pay purchases could come from your PayPal account rather than a credit or debit card.

Here is the juicy part, if you haven"t used Google Pay before, is not too late to take advantage of a few bonuses from both companies for using PayPal with the service. Firstly, when you add a PayPal account, you’ll get a $5 reward to use toward your next PayPal purchase via Google Pay. Secondly, you can also get a $10 Google Play credit after using Google Pay on five separate days within one month’s time.

The new integration, will go live later this year.
