Twitter Shares Fall On Fears Of Possible Hacking Activities

Image
Popular social media networking site, Twitter, on Monday suffered a loss in shares after a security firm affirmed that the platform was hacked to enable the hackers steal users’ information. Prior to this episode, the platform had experienced an unusual traffic, causing an emergency investigation suggesting that the occurrence may be resulting from “state-sponsored” hackers. Twitter claims that while investigating a security bug that leaked data and users’ country codes, it also uncovered a malicious traffic to a customer-support forum. Accordingly, the traffic notably came from an IP address in China and Saudi Arabia. China, the prime suspect in this denies any ties with the internet hackers and promises to cooperate in cracking down such malicious behaviour. Twitter said in the blog post: “While we cannot confirm intent or attribution for certain, it is possible that some of these IP addresses may have ties to state-sponsored actor… We continue to err on the side of full transparency

Delivery Robot Catches Fire; Company Blames It On Human Error

Image
A delivery robot owned by Kiwibot was caught in flames while on duty last Friday. However, its creator has blamed the occurrence on “human error”. Kiwibots have been functional around the University of California, Berkeley campus since 2016, and have not reported a serious complaint as this. Students found the robot in flames and reported the incidence on social media.  Immediately this became news, kiwi halted the activities of the robots, and began delivering foods manually. While the company has announced that it would provide measures to ensure that such incidence never happens again, it’s a known fact that the case with robots almost never ends with an absolute plan, as this will not be the first time that robots have “misbehaved”.  Even though it always ends with a blame on the human behaviour, the total dependence on robots bothers on “human competence”.  That human error will always exist could be a clear pointer that the idea of an absolute reliance on robots is fluid. The com

You can, for example, use B

Image
Tumblr says it is out rightly banning photos and videos that depict nudity and pornography from its sit. The new policy, which will begin December 17 generated a mixed set of reactions online. As some even put it, sexuality is a big thing on Tumblr and by banning it, they stand the risk of alienating some of their biggest communities. That said, others think the decision could actually bring about a new style of engagement and users. Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. The music streaming service, which started testing its Apple Watch app earlier this month, has pushed out a first version that offers the ability to play music on the Apple Watch and control how music is played to Spotify Connect-compatible devices. Foul Play?: How A Configuration Error At MainOne Led To A Disruption Of Google Services

Image
A Nigerian internet service provider said Tuesday that a configuration error it made during a network upgrade caused a disruption of key Google services, routing traffic to China and Russia. Even with MainOne"s explanation, there was speculation that Monday"s 74-minute data hijacking might not have been an accident. Google"s search, cloud hosting and corporate-focused G-Suite collaborative tools were among services disrupted. "Everyone is pretty confident that nothing untoward took place," MainOne spokesman Tayo Ashiru said. But Jake Williams, president of Rendition InfoSec and a former U.S. government hacker, said a skeptic should not rule out meddling by a nation-state with something to gain. The level of corruption in a country like Nigeria is well known, he said. The type of traffic misdirection involved can knock essential services offline and facilitate espionage and financial theft. Samsung Has Announced The Galaxy J4 Core, Its Second Android Go Phone

Image
With Android Go, smartphone makers have the ability to launch devices that hit extremely low prices thanks to lower requirements. Today, Samsung is launching its second Android Go device with the Galaxy J4 Core, and it gives users a slight spec upgrade compared to other Android Go devices. Back in August, Samsung’s Galaxy J2 Core was its first Android Go device. Predictably, it was a very low-specced device in every way. It had just 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a low-end Exynos 7570 processor, 2,600 mAh battery, and worst of all, a mere 5-inch 960x540 display. However, at under $100, it’s honestly not the worst device out there. At first glance, one of the most noticeable improvements with the Galaxy J4 Core compared to the J2 Core is the display. The bezels have been shrunk down considerably and the screen itself is a lot larger at 6-inches instead of 5. The resolution has also been increased from 540 x 960 up to 720 x 1480. Now, though, the Galaxy J4 Core has debuted (via WinFuture) a
